Hello,
readers !
So, it’s spring
break (WOO!) or Easter holidays and I haven’t been doing anything special these
two weeks. Except, I've been watching one of my favorite shows; How I Met Your Mother. And that will be the thing I want to write about today.
Now don’t
get the wrong impressions, the show is basically about a guy, Ted Mosby, in
2030 telling the story of how he met his wife to his two kids. Now you could
say that this show probably doesn’t have much episodes since you can tell a
story as basic as that in short. The funny thing is that Ted actually tells a
big chunk of his life story and explains that everything he tells is important
to the story of how he met his wife. Obviously, if you’ve seen almost all
seasons (coughcough) you could tell the story in a nutshell. But because of the
way the series is presented and executed you don’t care that much, you want to
keep listening. Probably the two most favorite parts of the series are the
characters and (of course) the stories. Also the humor, but that’s implied.
Most of all
stories Ted tells includes his four best friends.
You have Marshall Eriksen (Ted’s best friend and upcoming lawyer wanting to save the environment ) and Lily Aldrin (Marshall’s wife and a kindergarten teacher) who are the best couple in the whole world. Literally. Marshall and Lily’s relationship is so lovely and adorable, you wished you were in the same kind of relationship.
You have Robin Sherbatsky who has an on-and-off relationship with Ted. Spoiler Alert; she isn’t the mother. Robin was born and raised in Canada and moved to New York (which causes a lot of funny lines about Canada) and is a reporter for a news program called Metro News 1 (which has 2 or 3 viewers).
And probably everyone’s favorite character Barney Stinson, Ted’s wingman. Barney is the king of picking up women, having sex with them, leaving them and never calling them back. Now, I know that sounds like the one character you’d hate the most. But the way he belittles women and thinks of theories and tricks about relationships and picking up women is so hilarious and genius. He has a huge ego and calls himself awesome all the time. To be honest, he is rather awesome. I can’t do Barney’s character justice explaining him to you but that’s basically why I’m writing this review for you. So you can go and watch it!
The stories
are all interesting, mostly with a bit of wisdom attached (for example; Nothing
good happens after 2 a.m.). I also love how the stories are consistent and the
writers really focused on continuity. This show ranks in favorite series; House M.D., The Big Bang Theory and Castle.
